Definitely worth the wait and then some. Conflict and tribulation (not to mention getting off bullshit-ass Roadrunner) combine to push Chimaira to release their most vital, most pummeling release to date. 10 stars if I could. Definitely worth all the hype.

Somewhat of a "superband", (featuring members from Hypocrisy, Immortal, and Necrophagia) the highly underrated Grimfist deliver track after track of riffarama that will rot and roll the bones off good ol' Anna Nicole. So metal, there's even a song called "Mosh Pit Underground."
    Fuck yeah!

All the reviews I've read for this album start out by saying that these guys sound almost exactly like Slayer, except with more demonic vocals and a slightly less Dave Lombardo-ish drummer.

Which is precisely why I special-ordered the motherfucker several months after its release. They've gotten a new drummer since then, so I'm looking forward to album #2 and whether or not they can break away from homage mode and deliver a new take on the proven formula. Taking away one star for the soundalike factor, but still gets your blood flowing and your eyes popping nonetheless.

Explores the psychological/moral/metaphysical effects of killing in a military setting at first, then elaborates with different scenarios in which we as a society have come to accept killing as a necessary evil with victims and heroes. Not an easy read for most, but well worth the time.

I can't believe it's been more than 10 years since this attack on Christianity came out. I've been on a "classic death metal" kick as of the past 3 months, and now this falls into that category rather nicely. Punishing yet catchy rhythms and the (now) typical Christ-hatin' rhetoric from everyone's favorite redneck preacher with a shotgun, Glen Benton. Goddamn your soul if you don't have this in your collection. Actually...wait.
