Gooey Toolbars

March 7th, 2006

I’ve set up a little tool bar when you’re browsing through the collections. It should help in a few ways. It helps you figure out where you are, it gives you quick access to the RSS feeds available, and gives you access to some sorting.

It should be pretty self explanatory; however, let me know if you have any problems with it. I’ll be adding some indication on the sorting links so it’ll be easier to figure out how that’s being applied.

I’ve also added a little tag search box which will get spiffied up soon. You’ll find that under the tag cloud box when you’re browsing through the media. Currently, searches with that box will be applied to whatever section you’re browsing through. I’ll be adding some more options soon.

edit: Actually… that tag search box seemed to do funny things in firefox. I wasn’t having any problems in Safari. I’ll fix this soon.

In the future, I think a firefox extension that interfaces with lib.rario.us would be useful. Say, something that can add a Amazon.com page to a user’s library?

lol… it’s very similar to sort, particularly when it’s really late at night.

I’ve just started using this site, and it seems pretty neat.

I couldn’t find a place for suggestions, so I thought a blog comment might suffice. While just visually grepping through lists, I found one thing that just bugged the crap out of me: it doesn’t include the author. The only way to find the author is if someone were to add it as a tag, and there’s no guarantee that they would tag quite the same way, which would make it difficult to group things by author if you wished. So in short, it’d be nice if along with the book name and cover, you grabbed the author from Amazon.

Another nice thing would be an suggestions page with an obvious link.

effigies: I was working on adding the author (or director (or artist))) info per title just as you were writing that comment.

There’s also a sort option now for that, though it’s sorting alphabetically, by the first name. I’ll get see about getting it to sort by last name soon.
